Over the Easter break I went to Rotterdam to visit a friend studying out there. As a very new city its full of interesting architecture and art everywhere you look. Here are some highlights that I found inspiring:
Fell in love with the market stalls with these lovely masks and puppet:
The hyperrealism sculptures were so inspiring due to there superb display of technical skill. They inspired me to explore techniques such as silicone, latex and resin casting in my masks to achieve a more polished and professional outcome. I am keen to explore casting in different materials and find a new better way of constructing my pieces.
I loved this take on realism as it incorporates the surreal with the realistic and in doing so creates this eerie effect.
